Romania’s Bogdan progresses to Transylvania Open women’s singles round of 16

Romanian tennis player Ana Bogdan on Tuesday evening advanced to the women’s singles round of 16 at the WTA 250 Transylvania Open tournament, prize pool USD 275,094, after defeating British Jordie Burrage 6-2 6-3 at the BTarena in Cluj-Napoca.

Ana Bogdan, 32, world number 120, last year’s finalist, prevailed in an hour and 13 minutes over a 25-year-old opponent, ranked 191st in the world.

For her performance so far, Bogdan won USD 4,160 and 30 WTA singles points, and in the round of 16 she will play Italian Elisabetta Cocciaretto.
