The scenario of me taking over the position of prime minister was not discussed in the ruling Coalition, the interim president of Romania, Ilie Bolojan declared on Monday.
„This issue was not discussed at all in the Coalition”, Bolojan told Digi 24 TV station when asked whether he was considering the option of being prime minister.
In this context, he recalled „campaign proposals” from the past.
„We must always be reserved, so that in the campaign we treat everything that is thrown on the market with great seriousness, because all the candidates’ announcements are generally thought out in an electoral key”, added the interim president.
Bolojan appealed for professionalism.
„It is very important that our country, regardless of who is in a government or another, uses the best people it has, not just for a prime minister position. There are no saviors. The idea that someone comes to run for president and will solve all the problems on their own is false, and someone who is currently the interim president of Romania tells you that. And you have some leverage. If you don’t collaborate, if you don’t have strong teams, if you don’t rely on professionals and you don’t have a dialogue with the political forces that the Romanians sent to Parliament, you can’t do anything,” he stressed.
As to the assessments regarding the presidential candidates, the interim head of state showed restraint.
„It is not fair play for me to enter a campaign, alongside those who are campaigning. I believe that a reserved attitude is a matter of respect for people”, said Bolojan.
He assessed that „Mr. Calin Georgescu qualified or disqualified himself by what he did during this period, by his statements, by the actions he took. Romanians also form their own point of view, and the state institutions – but not only in his case – verify whether or not they respect the conditions for accepting their candidacy”. AGERPRES
