Presidential election 2025 – BEC rules as final May 2025 presidential candidacies

The Central Electoral Bureau on Thursday ruled as final the candidacies submitted for the position of President of Romania in the May 2025 election, as follows:

* Nicusor-Daniel Dan – independent candidate;

* George Crin Laurentiu Antonescu – nominated by the Forward Romania electoral alliance;

* Victor Viorel Ponta – independent candidate;

* Elena Valerica Lasconi – nominated by the Save Romania Union (USR);

* Cristian Vasile Terhes – nominated by the Romanian National Conservative Party (PNCR);

* Marcela Lavinia Sandru – nominated by the Social Liberal Humanist Party (PUSL);

* George Nicolae Simion – nominated by the Alliance for the Union of Romanians (AUR);

* John-Ion Banu-Muscel – independent candidate;

* Silviu Predoiu – nominated by the National Action League Party (PLAN);

* Petru Daniel Funeriu – independent candidate;

* Sebastian Constantin Popescu – nominated by the New Romania Party (PNR).

Also on Thursday, BEC acknowledged Anamaria Gavrila’s withdrawing her presidential bid.
