Former Social Democrat deputy Laura Vicol declared on Wednesday at the Bucharest Court of Appeal that she had filed no denunciation and warned that big surprises are in store.
„I haven’t filed any denunciation. I stick with truth and justice. I am and will remain a lawyer. (…) After 20 years of practicing law, I hoped that if I enter politics I could change something. I certainly chose my friends wrong. As for the Nordis clients, they didn’t suffer damage. Beginning on Monday, the handover of the apartments to the 700 owners was supposed to begin, but this could no longer happen because the company’s computers and absolutely everything was seized by anti-crime prosecutors. At the creditors’ meeting, tomorrow or the day after tomorrow – anyway it was supposed to be this week – they were to be notified that there is money in the company’s account, and finishing works for the other apartments were supposed to begin. But at this moment everything is blocked. I will tell you just this: you press a button – your money goes to foreigners, you open the water tap – money flows into foreigners’ pockets, everything that is Romanian must be destroyed,” declared Vicol.
She also stressed that she has made a lot of donations. „Half of my salary, ant this can be verified, went for donations like children’s surgeries, I expect all those I helped to come out with public statements. If not, I will summon them as witnesses anyway. (…) Never in my life have I looked down on anyone, not even on those who have done me harm,” she said.
At the end of her statement, Vicol threatened to sue Recorder journalists.
„I was branded and labeled Nordis, the lawyer of underworld figures, of criminals. Everyone vilified me in connection with Nordis, starting with Recorder, hand in hand with those who paid for the article to be published. You’ll have some big surprises. I have lots of evidence in this regard, but it’s all in the complaints that have already been filed. You’re going to see what happens,” Vicol said.
Laura Vicol and her husband Vladimir Ciorba came to court to learn if they will be put in pre-trial arrest in the Nordis case.
